What this site keeps about a visit.
Short version: no cookies, no trackers, no analytics script. The web server keeps an access log, the CT Investments page remembers your light or dark choice in your own browser, and that is the whole list.

No cookies, no trackers
No page on permitparser.com sets a cookie, and the data files do not either. There is no analytics script, no advertising, and nothing loaded from another company's servers: the fonts, the stylesheets and the scripts all come from this site. Because there is nothing to consent to, there is no cookie banner.
The server access log
The web server (Caddy) writes one line per request to a log on the
machine that hosts the site: the time, the IP address the request came
from, the address requested, the response code, the browser's user-agent
string and the referring page if the browser sent one. The query part of
an address is in that line. A search runs in your browser and sends
nothing, but its filters are kept in the page's address
(/?q=…) so it can be shared, and opening such a link logs
them with the request. Cookies are not logged, since there are none.
The log rotates by size, twelve files of 50 MB, so old lines are overwritten as new traffic arrives rather than on a fixed date. It is read by the one person who runs the site, to see how the site is used and to find faults. It is not shared or sold.
Searching
The home page downloads one file of every filing
(/api/v1/permits.json) and searches it in your browser: the
text you type, the town and the location of a radius search are never
sent anywhere. The records themselves are public: each town's planning and zoning
agendas and minutes, as the town published them.
Feeds
Each town has an RSS feed and a JSON feed of its filings, and there is one for all towns. A feed reader fetches them like any other page; the site does not know who subscribes and keeps no list.
CT Investments
The page at /invest/ has a light and
dark switch. Your choice is stored in your browser's local storage under
the name ct-theme; it never leaves your browser, and clearing
the site's data removes it. The market and housing figures on that page
are fetched from Yahoo Finance and FRED by the site's collector job and
published here as a file; your browser never contacts either.
Links to other sites
A filing card's "Read town document" link opens the town's own file on the town's website. The footer links to the author's site, the About page to LinkedIn, and CT Investments to Deedective and to the public bodies it describes. Each of those sites has its own rules.
